Trees
Then spoke I to the tree,
Were ye your own desire
What would you be?
Answered the tree to me,
I am my own desire;
I am what I would be.
Isaac Rosenberg
My primary interest in trees is the way their branches punctuate space and create pattern in the landscape. They are woven into our view. This formal aspect of shape in the work is permeated by an emotive quality derived from the anthropomorphic nature of trees with their trunks, limbs and knuckles.
